Gold

What is gold? Where do you get gold? It is one of the most expensive Metals. History is famous for men rushing to get it. That is a "gold rush" but don't be a fool.

Today I'll be introducing you to gold.  Gold is found in mines, rivers, and lakes. Don't get caught with fools-gold. Fools-gold, having the same color, is fake gold, which is worth little. Gold is a soft metal whereas fools-gold is a hard metal rock. That is why people bite it to tell the difference. Gold is one of the most expensive metals because it is hard to find. Once collected it is dear and always worth something. So humans rush to get it. A gold rush is when the many people come to dig and look for the gold, mostly in rivers and mines, where gold has been spotted. When they find some they can make their own coins, if it is lawful, or trade it. People fight over the places where the gold was found because they all want wealth.

How can you make a gold coin? How do they refine it? Wiki has a good review of gold coins:
A gold coin is a coin made mostly or entirely of gold. Gold has been used for coins practically since the invention of coinage, originally because of gold's intrinsic value. In modern times, most gold coins are intended either to be sold to collectors, or to be used as bullion coins—coins whose nominal value is irrelevant and which serve primarily as a method of investing in gold. Gold has been used as money for many reasons. It is fungible, meaning that it can be traded easily, with a low spread between the prices to buy and sell. Gold is also easily transportable, as it has a high value to weight ratio, compared to other commodities, such as silver. Gold can be divided into smaller units, without destroying its value; it can also be melted into ingots, and re-coined. The density of gold is higher than most other metals, making it difficult to pass counterfeits. Gold is extremely unreactive. The scarcity of gold stabilizes its value.

But they do not tell you how to make them. They tell you how to make fake gold with nickels, fools-gold, but they don't tell you how to make real gold coins. I found this great refining youtube:

and this:

People go to a lot of trouble to refine gold. I'd rather have gold coins than paper. I hope I helped you learn about gold, how it is refined, that it is one of the most expensive metals, and warn you about fools-gold.
