The Wright Brothers

The Wright Brothers were the first to invent a successful airplane. They were two of seven children. They first started getting a interest in Airplanes or helicopters when their father brought home a toy airplane in 1878 they played with it until it broke and then decided to make their own. They also experimented with airplane toys. In 1885 Wilbur was hit in the face with a hockey stick accidently. Because of this he lost his front teethBoth Wilbur and Orville did not receive a High School Diploma. Orville did not get his High School Diploma nor Wilbur because they moved to Dayton when he was trying to get it. Orville dropped out of high school after his junior year and started a small printing business. He had build and deigned his own printing press with Wilbur's help. Orville named his company the "West Side New's". Orville was the publisher and writer for the weekly news. Later on Wilbur joined Orville's company. They got so interested in airplanes they starting building a one. Wilbur did not think the gliders they build needed a tail which was wrong their first two gliders did not have a tail but the others did. The most famous plane or you can say glider the Wright Brothers made was the Kitty hawk. Wilbur did all the gliding until 1902, it was probably to protect Orville from getting injured. In 1901 they were improving their glider they larger wings. In July to August they made around 60 to 100 flights. The Wright brothers went to some manufactures to create a lightweight engine but their engines they created were not light enough. Later they went to their shop mechanic who build a engine light enough in just six weeks. Orville wanted to test out two people on the airplane. But Orville and Wilbur could not go on together on the plane because a promise they made to their father, if the airplane crashes they both might get injured bad or die. But they has convinced their father to let both go on the plane. Then their father went on the airplane with Orville after them they had reached 300 feet up in the sky. Their father wanted to go higher. The military used their planes but a lot of them crashed. The military decided not to use the plane anymore they said they would only use it if they improved the airplane because Orville said they had crashed because the plane stalled which the Pilot was going fast and slowed down too fast or stopped. Wilbur died at the age of 45 he got ill on a trip to Boston when he returned home he was very ill and then died. Orville succeeded the Wright Company and sold it three years after Wilbur died.
