A Ruby has a reddish colors it is a gemstone. It becomes red because the way it gets compressed.  Its name comes from  the word ruber which means in Latin for red.  Rubies are considered one of the four precious gems: sapphire, the emerald, ruby, and the diamond.  Prices of rubies usually are by the color of it.  Ruby has been one of the world's most valued gemstone for thousands of years.  The color of rubies are shades of red. Rubies are found most commonly in oval shapes finding then in different shapes may be difficult to find in sizes above one carat. Infact even diamonds were considered common.
