Rays Arithmetic

Two men paid $600 for a farm: one man took 70 acres at $30 an acre, the other remainder at $25 an acre: how many acres in all?

My income is $1800 a year. If I spend $360 a year if provision, $300 for rent, $150 for clothing, $100 for books, and $90 for incidentals, In how many years can I save $10400? It will take me 13 years to save up for $10400.

Four mean paid $1265 for land: the first paid $243; the second $61 more than the first; the third paid $79 less then the second: how much did the fourth man pay? The fourth man paid $493.

A merchant bought 275 yards at $5 a yard, he sold 250 yards of cloth at $5 a yard, and the remainder at $6 a yard: how much did he gain? He gained 125 dollars, He also had 15 yards remaining which is another $18 dollars he can earn out of profit.

A broker buys 75 shares of stock for $85 a share,  and 75 shares for $115  a share. He invests it all on the other stock at $175 share: how many shares does he have after the last purchase, He will have $25 in shares left after the last purchase.
