William Holmes McGuffey was an American Professor. He was best known for creating 'The McGuffey Readers', Which were sold from (1836-1960). It was as high as The Bible, and Websters Dictionary. William was born close to Claysville in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Anna and Alexander McGuffey. He started his carrier in 1826 as a Professor for The Miami University. In 1827, he married Harriet Spinning who he has five children with. He was ordained as a minister of Bethel Chapel in 1829. He then moved to Oxford and created the masterpiece 'The McGuffey Readers'. He sold over 123m Copies of his books. The McGuffey Readers Books were used as far as 100 years, and are still being used today.
