Benjamin Franklin



Benjamin Franklin was born on Milk Street, in Boston, on January 17, 1706. He had 16 siblings, his Father was named Josiah Franklin, Benjamin was the fifteenth child and youngest son. Josiah wanted Benjamin to go to school with the clergy. He studied his education in reading. his school ended when he was ten. He then worked for his father for a time and at 12 he became an apprentice to his brother James.  James founded The New-England Courant, which was the first truly newspaper in the colonies. At age 17, Benjamin ran away to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, looking for a new start in a new city. When he came there he worked in many printer shops around town. After a few months, while working Benjamin was told by Pennsylvania Governor William Keith to go to London, Benjamin worked as a typesetter in a printer's shop he returned to Philadelphia. In 1726 a year later Benjamin created a group called junto the members created a library from their own books for buying books were to expensive. Going back in time At the age of 17, Benjamin proposed to 15-year-old Deborah Read, but her mother didn't let her marry him. Benjamin was on a trip to London, for about 3 months but his trip got extended, Because problems concerning with Sir William's promises of support. Deborah married a man named John Rodgers, because the extention of Benjamins delay, Shortly after John Rodgers fleed to Barbados leaving Deborah behind. Because of  laws Deborah was not free to remarry. Benjamin was a great success as an author, politician, and inventor. He invented 'The lightning rod'. In 1750 he experimented to prove that lightning was electricity by flying a kite in a storm, he was right about that. Benjamin experiment using a 40-foot iron rod instead of a kite, it created electrical sparks from a cloud. Benjamin was a exelent chess player he was playing chess around 1933. Benjamin played the violin, the guitar, and the harp.  He also composed music, and invented a much better version of the glass harp.
