Tomatos




A tomato is a plant that bares a delicious red fruit.
There are many types of tomatos which are most often grown in fields but many farmers use greenhouses. A tomato can be eaten raw or cooked. There are a lot of things made out of a tomatoes. Some examples are sauces, drinks, and soups. The tomato comes from the nightshade family. If the tomatoes are green that means you cannot eat them but you can cook them. A lot of people believe that the Spanish explorer Cortes may had been the first person to transfer the tomato to Europe. Some other people believe Christopher Columbus transfered the tomato to Europe. A Genoese was the first European to bring back the tomato around 1493. Not to long ago people thought that tomatos were poisiness because they are in the nightshade family. However, tomato leaves are poisiness. Tomatos were used as food in the early 17th century in Spain. The earliest cookbook with tomato recipes was published in Naples in 1692. Tomatos were not grown in England until the 1590s. Tomatos are now grown worldwide for its edible fruits. There are many different types of tomatos. Tomatoes are often picked unripe. Some farmers who have tomatos put their tomatos in a refridgerater. The only problem with putting them in a refridgerater is that they would loose some of there taste. Some other farmers put there tomatos in a greenhouse because they would not loose any of there taste.
