Karate

Karate was developed in the Ryukyu Kingdom in the 19th century. It was brought to the Japanese mainland in the early 20th century. In 1922 the Japanese invited Gichin Funakoshi "father of modern karate" to Tokyo they wanted him to give them a karate demonstration. The karate kid movies made karate very popular after that there were many karate classes. In 1924 Keio University make the first university karate club in Japan and by 1932, Many Japanese universities had karate clubs. Since the Japanese liked karate a lot they wished to develop the combat form in Japanese style. The martial arts movies made martial art's and karate go up in its popularity and the word karate began to be one of the best ways to attack and defend yourself. Karate schools began appearing across the world. Here is a quote from Shoshin Nagamine. A famous karate master is Chuck Norris who made his own fighting style called Chun Kuk Do.  A common karate style is Okinawa. Here are some quotes said by karate masters: Master Shigetoshi Senah Karate is not about winning. It's about not losing". A quote from Japanese scholar Izawa Nagahide “You should detach from arts when you have mastered them. If you do not detach from arts, you are not an artist.”   
"Karate may be considered as the conflict within oneself or as a life-long marathon which can be won only through self-discipline, hard training and one's own creative efforts."
